"This songbird has a voice that really packs a punch. When Jennifer Shafer Wood sings, she rocks you to your core. You laugh. You cry. And you leave a different person." Diana Carr

"Energy engulfed The Buttonwood Tree Saturday night when opening act J-Cherry and the Strawberries took to the stage and played to a house that overflowed the music room and spilled out into the library. A local artist with a passion for music, lead singer J-Cherry,  a.k.a. Jennifer Shafer Wood, plays her own soulful style of blues, poetry, and funk surrounded by an ethereal musical background. Her ad hoc 7-piece band included the main act for the night, Tim Sparks, on acoustic-electric guitar and a full group of supporting players: Phill Bullaro on drums and synthesizer, Steve Far on bass, Bumpy Chimes on guitar and keyboard, other guests and one talented bongo player/poet.  It was quite a crowd for The Buttonwood Tree's little stage, but it worked well.  The group played five of J-Cherry's poetic and thoughtful songs, each delivered with an passion that makes it clear music is more than just a side project -- J-Cherry lives it."
