J-Cherry talks with Jamie McLean of the Jamie McLean Band as they make their way through the northeast. Listen here for the show recorded live on WESU's VOICE of the CITY

"Jamie McLean had a big decision to make in 2006. He could continue to tour the globe as the guitarist for New Orleans’ famed Dirty Dozen Brass Band playing sets at Madison Square Garden, Bonnaroo and Japan’s Fuji Rock. Or he could do it his way, take the road less traveled and begin to lead Jamie McLean Band. It seemed as though there was only one option.
“It was certainly a tough choice to leave my bread and butter gig but I could feel it in my heart that I needed to be singing and recording and performing my own music. I’ve never been happier!”

Bike and Build stops by, Anything Goes Open Mic Mondays at the Buttonwood Tree
Last Monday at Anything Goes Open Mic down at the Buttonwood Tree we had the great pleasure of meeting Rebecca and Rachel. Two cyclists from Bike and Build traveling across the country to raise money for Habitat for Humanity, and awareness for the importance of affordable housing. Out of all the many wonderful places in Middletown they chose the Buttonwood Tree. They said, " The Buttonwood Tree was the coolest place to visit while in Middletown!"
It takes 9,000 calories a day to fuel these riders as they tackle hills and hundreds of miles a day! We'd like to wish them a safe and happy journey. Thank you, for your hard work and stopping by to educate us! For more information about Bike and Build follow the link bellow where you can also track the cyclists.
"Bike & Build organizes cross-country bicycle trips which benefit affordable housing groups. Specifically, we fund projects planned and executed by young adults.Over the past 8 seasons we have donated more than $2.7MM; built for more than 80,000 hours; pedaled over 5MM miles; and engaged more than 1250 young adults in spreading the word about the affordable housing crisis in America."
